I just stumbled on my gr.uncles’ Draft Reg. Card from WWI, on it it lists, “Washington, Dustbane” as his current place of employment at the time of the draft card. Seeing pics, really helps when putting Genealogies together, it helps to make those that have past become more than just names and dates. Just want to say thank you for having these up to view.

I have tinnitus, but this sound is completely different. Tinnitus is high pitched like a ringing or a hiss sometimes more than one tone quality. But this is a low vibrating rumble that even has a physical sensation, like a pressure which can be attributed to a sonic boom effect. My tinnitus is with me all the time, this thing varies you can sometimes even hear it “approach ” around the same time in the evening. Its absolutely horrendous it gives me the creeps.

I moved back to Canada where i still heard it usually at night. Everywhere i moved in Canada I heard it. I moved back to Australia where I hear it intermittently. It stopped for 6 months and in the last few weeks has returned and become increasingly louder and more invasive. I hear it all the time now, morning noon and night. The loudness and sensation in my head varies but its almost always around. It feels like it has a conscious level of control of the intensity it creates; it seems to react to what I’m saying or doing. The feelings this sound creates with me are very complicated and intense. They are challenging to articulate. I don’t think it’s any of those harmless scientific things everyone is so eager to dismiss it to. I believe whatever this is will come out into the open and reveal itself when its own agenda necessitates the need. And I believe it will be shocking and terrible, like our very freedoms and rights are at stake. Call me crazy but I’m usually right about this kind of stuff.. Unfortunately. My friends call me the oracle.

I worked on Gusie Millers herring boat in thne late 50’s. On a typical night we would load close to 10 ton of herring. I would make more money in one night than my father would make in two weeks. The work was very scary, especially late in the season when it got cold and icy.

Daniel Bradley came from the Parish of Alphage Cripplegate, sailing from London, England, in the “Elizabeth” 6 Apr. 1635, at the age of twenty. He resided in Ipswich, Mass., in 1636; settled in Haverhill; was made freeman there in 1642 and assisted in building in 1648 the first rude meeting house “upon the shore of the river, on a knoll that lightly swelled from the surrounding land.” In May, 1664, he bought the house and land in Haverhill adjoining the “Parsonage farm.” In 1682 the “Parsonage farm” was leased to him for twenty-five years. He was killed by the Indians on the parsonage road near the present site of the Atkinson, N.H., depot. His children and grandchildren massacred or taken prisoner.

Larry, your beat was more exciting than mine. By 1980 things were beginning to simmer down some. People were growing up, working jobs, starting families, etc. There were those who couldn’t break out of the cycle and remained part of the landscape and the problem world. I miss those days though. People seemed more real then.

The Panther Club, Bannon’s, Hayes Hotel, AMVETS, Carrolton Club all door shakers for the beat man where you might come across a local lost in his own consumption of too much alcoholic beverage slumped in the bushes or behind a fence.
